Street eats: This year’s L.A. Street Food Fest is this Saturday at the Rose Bowl. More than 75 food trucks and restaurants are participating, offering a literal smorgasbord of casual street food, gastropub fare, ice cream, coffee, beer, tequila and so much more. Participants include: Grilled Cheese Truck, Mighty Boba Truck, Peking Duck Truck, Gravy Train Poutinerie, Antojitos Sofy, Sabor de Bahia, Dog Haus, Starry Kitchen and many more. 3 to 4:30 p.m. for VIP early admission: $65. 5 to 9 p.m. for general admission: $45. Pig party: On Aug. 5, chef Amar Santana of broadwaybyamarsantana.com and Bobby Navarro of 100eats100days.com host PigOut, a pig-centric social at the Newport Dunes Resort in Orange County. The event will feature chefs and mixologists cooking up and shaking up tastes of all things pig and cocktails. A portion of the proceeds will go to Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP), which provides scholarship, education and career opportunities for students in the food and hospitality industry. Among the featured chefs are: Casey Overton, the Loft at Montage Laguna Beach; Deborah Schneider, Sol Cocina; Matt Molina and Emily Corliss, Pizzeria Mozza; and many more. Mixologists include: Jason Schiffer and Dave Castillo, 320 Main; Felicia Chavez, Two 40 South; and Matt Ellingson and Ryland Brown, Napa Rose Restaurant. 1 to 4 p.m. General admission: $75 (in advance) and $90 (at the door). Dinner and a movie: Every Tuesday from July through September at the rooftop of the Thompson Beverly Hills, the Hollywood Reporter and the Motion Picture & Television Fund are screening films and serving them with dinner. Patrons can cozy up in a cabana or grab a seat poolside, and order meals representative of famous directors. (The Scorsese special includes burrata and peppers, New York strip steak, fries and a bottle of red.) Also available are specialty cocktails and old-fashioned sodas, as well as classic movie grub like Dots and Milk Duds. Select screenings will be preceded by special guest Q&A’s, moderated by the Hollywood Reporter. Films include: ‘Stand by Me,’ ‘When Harry Met Sally,’ ‘Moulin Rouge,’ ‘The Goonies,’ ‘L.A. Confidential,’ ‘Speed,’ ‘Catch Me if You Can,’ ‘St. Elmo’s Fire,’ ‘Reality Bites,’ ‘A Fish Called Wanda,’ ‘The Usual Suspects’ and ‘L.A.
