It’s every girl’s dream come true.
The chance to meet Prince Charming?
Well, yes.
But also to sing, dance and act before a bunch of celebrity judges -- just like they do on TV.
Lythgoe Family Productions is bringing an ‘’American Idol’- style talent hunt to three L.A. area shopping malls in search of a winner who’ll star in ‘Cinderella, a Modern Musical Extravaganza’ this fall at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood.
Young women ages 16 to 26 can perform a song at the following open auditions:
Wednesday, July 7, at the Westfield Topanga mall in Canoga Park for a panel that includes Adam Shankman, the director of the movie ‘Hairspray’ and a judge on Fox’s ‘So You Think You Can Dance’
Friday, July 9, at the Westfield Santa Anita mall in Arcadia for a panel that includes Kara DioGuardi, singer-songwriter and a judge on Fox’s ‘American Idol’
Wednesday, July 14, at the Westfield Culver City mall for a panel that includes actor Neil Patrick Harris.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. Auditions begin at 10 a.m. Callbacks will be in September.
‘Cinderella,’ which will run Nov. 27-Dec. 19, is described as a mash-up of old-school fairy tale and modern music in the style of a wacky British holiday show. The production will feature choreography by ‘Dancing With the Stars’ ’ Derek Hough, audience participation, comedy and magic.
The Cinderella talent search and show are being presented by Lythgoe Family Productions, which includes producer-director Nigel Lythgoe -- whose credits include shows such as ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and ‘American Idol’ -- his former wife, Bonnie, and son, Kris.
