Red-hot 89-year-old Betty White earned her first Screen Actors Guild award on Sunday for female actor in a comedy series for her role in ‘Hot in Cleveland.’
She was competing against Edie Falco for ‘Nurse Jackie,’ Tina Fey for ’30 Rock,’ Jane Lynch for ‘Glee’ and Sofia Vergara for ‘Modern Family.’
Last year White won the SAG lifetime achievement award and has been on a roll ever since. ‘I cannot believe this!’ White said. ‘This is the biggest surprise that I’ve ever had in this business.’
The awards — which dole out honors in both TV and film — are being held at the Shrine Exhibition Hall and telecast live simultaneously on TNT and TBS. A win in the feature film categories is especially coveted: It can be a precursor to Oscar gold. We’ll carry all the breaking news and headlines here on Awards Tracker.
