Shopping L.A.: Burning Torch, Clare Vivier boutiques open

Burning Torch Boutique has opened a flagship in Venice. The brand, known for its melding of vintage, modern, organic and global elements, was founded by designer Karen Craven in 1999 and has been sold at Barneys and other retailers, as well as online. The new boutique offers sportswear, including leather jackets and tops, silks, upcycled sweaters, jewelry, vintage eyewear, one-of-a-kind pieces and vintage furniture, table top items and furnishings. The store, at 1627 Abbot Kinney Blvd., is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Handbag designer Clare Vivier has opened a new flagship store in Los Angeles. She worked with architect Barbara Bestor to give the airy Southern California space the feeling of the Marais District in Paris. Offerings include Vivier’s bags, Caran d’Ache pens, Leanne Shapton painted French book covers, hats and cotton bloomers by Steven Alan. Customers can order monograms or custom stripes for their bags as well. The store is at 3339 W. Sunset Blvd. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Drybar has opened a new salon in Westlake Village. It’s the seventh Southern California outlet for the chain, which provides shampoo and a blowout for $35. The Westlake shop is at 966 S. The Headwear Assn. is sponsoring Hat Day in the Sun on Friday, giving away free sun protection hats during the Eagle Rock Farmer’s Market at MediaNoche, 5048 Eagle Rock Blvd., Los Angeles. The promotion is part of a nationwide effort to raise public awareness about the importance of protection to help prevent sun damage, skin cancer and premature aging. The event begins at 4 p.m.

Fashion and food trucks will converge for the Shop Lot L.A. at St. Vincent de Paul’s Thrift Store parking lot on Saturday for a day of shopping, food, facepaint and music to benefit St. Vincent De Paul. The store is at 210 N. Avenue 21 in Lincoln Heights. The event is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a sale at the thrift store beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Victoria’s Secret’s new Pink freestanding store celebrates its grand opening at Westfield Fashion Square starting at 10 a.m. Saturday with a DJ and special shopping promotions. The mall is at 14006 Riverside Drive in Sherman Oaks.

Vintage and designer consignment store Decades plans what it calls its ‘biggest shoe blowout yet,’ starting online Friday and continuing in store from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday until stock sells out. Shoes from Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Prada, Lanvin, Nicholas Kirkwood and Sergio Rossi will be among the offerings priced up to 70% off retail. Decades is at 8214 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles.

Thvm hosts a denim trunk show for men and women from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. It will feature the label’s SS/12 collection as well as a cut-to-order collaboration with textile artist Krissy Morrison, featuring fabrics hand-dyed with organic dyes. The event will be at American Rag Cie, 150 S. La Brea Ave., LosAngeles.
