She was the picture-perfect bride. Dressed in an ivory Vera Wang gown -- a strapless raw-edged laser cut swirling silk organza ball skirt and train with a silk tulle diagonally draped bodice, accented by an embellished belt -- Chelsea Clinton glowed in front of guests who attended her Rhinebeck, N.Y., wedding.

There was speculation over which designer Clinton would go with for her big day. She was spotted leaving Vera Wang’s studio (her face shielded from onlookers by a giant floppy hat from Hat Attack) last week, but rumor still had it that the dress could also be Oscar de la Renta.

Though Oscar de la Renta befits a young and modern bride (remember Jenna Bush wore a fitted, embroidered gown from the designer during her 2008 nuptials), Wang has been creating wedding gowns for so many celebrities (Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson and Khloe Kardashian to name a few) and perhaps Clinton wanted the classic, romantic and fairy-tale princess aesthetic that Wang does so well.

Her dramatic veil and the silver-jeweled embroidery that wrapped around the gown defining her dainty waist were very romantic touches and certainly made the gown feel much more special than your average strapless style. And the elegant touches such as her monochromatic ivory bouquet and simple makeup and upswept hair were smart choices as not to interfere with the volume of her dress and veil.

Not one to feel restricted on the dance floor, Clinton did a costume change and donned a Vera Wang silk tulle Grecian gown with a crisscross back and narrow grosgrain black belt for her reception.

Chelea’s bridemaids also wore Wang creations: strapless bias-cut lavender chiffon gowns with a side drape and contrasting plum bow.

It will be interesting to see how many women are inspired by Clinton’s look. Watch out for silk tulle and silver jeweled sashes on brides-to-be.
