Grammy fashion: At the Grammys, style doesn’t stop at the red carpet

The performance stage is a chance to rock a whole other outfit.
Lady Gaga channeled Peter Pan in a sparkly green body suit and booties by Giorgio Armani. (Elton John’s crystal-covered sunglasses were courtesy of Armani, too.) By the way, where does she get waxed?
Beyonce rocked out in a fierce-looking black leather corset and flippy skirt. No word on the designer, although the outfit did have an Azzedine Alaia quality about it. To accept her award for female pop vocal performance, Beyonce wore an Armani silver and gold chain mail dress that brought to mind buried treasure. (Ain’t no way they’re using those metal detectors at the Staples Center tonight.)
From fierce to frightening. The Black Eyed Peas’ Fergie looked like an otherworldly arthropod in her black leather cat suit, while will.i.am put the fear in us with his Hannibal Lecter-like leather face mask.
And Pink stripped down to nearly nothing, from a hooded dress to a nude body stocking. See-through except for a few well-placed white stripes and crystal clusters, the get-up was unmistakably Bob Mackie.
Glad to know the consummate designer-showman still has a place on the Grammy stage.
