Apple on Tuesday said it too was a target of a cyber attack that was launched against Facebook and other companies last week.

The Cupertino tech company told Reuters that a few of its employees’ Mac computers were compromised, but so far “there was no evidence that any data left Apple.â€

Apple is working with law enforcement to track down the hackers, and the company said it plans to release a software tool Tuesday to protect customers from the same type of malware that affected its employees.

Facebook first acknowledged the hack last week, when it announced that some of its employees’ computers had been breached. Facebook said no user data had been compromised, but that many other companies had been targeted by the same attack.

The unidentified hackers were traced back to China by Facebook, according to the Reuters report. So far, only Apple and Facebook have acknowledged they were targets of the attack.

About the same time as the attack on Facebook, Twitter too was hacked. That attack resulted in the breach of as many as 250,000 users’ data. It’s unclear if the attack on Twitter is related to the one on Facebook and Apple.
