If you’re a cyclist looking for a challenge, gear up for the Julius Caesar cycling expedition. It’s an 1,800-mile ride that roughly follows the Roman conqueror’s march through Europe, from London to Rome via England, Belgium, France, Switzerland and Italy.

“Our journey begins at the farthest northern point Caesar reached as the first Roman invader of Britain, and ends in Rome, the city he eventually ruled as dictator,†said Dylan Reynolds, co-founder of Ride & Seek, which is sponsoring the tour.

The tour course is divided into two 17-day, 16-night stages.

From London, cyclists ride to Dover’s white cliffs before crossing the English Channel by boat into France. The ride continues through the Champagne and Burgundy regions before riding alongside Lake Geneva in Switzerland and then cycling into Italy and on to Rome.
