The deadline for cities to submit their bids for the 2024 Summer Olympics is less than 24 hours away.

Which means the clock is ticking down on Toronto.

The Canadian city successfully hosted the Pan Am Games this summer and has been seriously considering a try for 2024. The decision falls mainly on the shoulders of Mayor John Tory.

“I want to make sure I do this thoroughly and properly as people expect from me,†he told CBC News. “And that’s what I’ll do.â€

Los Angeles and Paris lead an international field of contenders that also includes Rome and Hamburg, Germany. On Monday, officials in Budapest told aroundtherings.com that, despite record numbers of refugees flooding into the country, they will continue with their campaign.

The International Olympic Committee will announce the official field on Wednesday and release changes in the bidding process meant to align with the recent Agenda 2020 reform package.

It remains to be seen if the controversial host city contract -- which requires cites to act as a financial backstop to the Games -- will be altered.
