Wichita State gets Tim Tebow’s blessing during impromptu speech
Wichita State became one of the feel-good stories of the first week of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament after knocking off Gonzaga, the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region and the top-ranked team in the country, on Saturday night.
And don’t expect the Shockers’ postseason run to end any time soon.
You see, it just so happens that the team’s plane just happened arrive back home at Mid-Continent Airport at the exact same time former Heisman Trophy winner and current New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow’s jet stopped off to refuel.
Probably assuming it was by design that his path crossed that of a group of enthusiastic young athletes, Tebow asked for and was granted permission to speak to the players on the team bus.
And in true Tebow fashion, he delivered some inspirational words, telling them that “these are the special times in your lives.â€
“This is a time you’ll remember,†said Tebow, who won two national championships at Florida. “All of you, all together balling out there together, training together, putting in the heart and the sweat, everything, caring about each other. You’ll never forget it, guys.â€
And just before he wrapped things up, Tebow said the words that must have put a smile on every face in that bus: “We’ll be praying for you.â€
Like I said, don’t expect the Shockers’ postseason run to end any time soon.
