Terrell Owens on Twitter: I’m no longer a Seahawk

Terrell Owens, a 38-year-old former All-Pro receiver trying to make another NFL comeback, appears to be done in Seattle.

Owens sent out a message on Twitter saying he’s done with the Seahawks, who had to reduce their roster from 90 to 75 players on Sunday.

“I’m no longer a Seahawk,†the tweet said, continuing, “I THANK the organization 4 the opportunity, I’m truly blessed beyond belief. My FAITH is intact & will NOT waiver.â€

Owens, who has played for five teams during a 15-year career, made a magnificent leaning over-the-shoulder catch in Seattle’s 44-14 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday night. Unfortunately, that was about his only highlight this preseason.

He dropped several passes during three preseason games, including one against the Chiefs. He failed to make a catch in a game against the Cleveland Browns and dropped a very catchable deep pass against the Broncos that could have gone for a 46-yard touchdown.

Owens, who was selected to six Pro Bowls, last played in the 2010 season with the Cincinnati Bengals. He tore a ligament in his left knee following that season and was cleared to play in October of last year. No team signed him, so he played eight games with the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League.

Owens ranks second in the NFL career receiving yards at 15,934 and is tied for second with Randy Moss in career receiving touchdowns at 153. Jerry Rice is No. 1 in both categories (197 TDs, 22,895 yards). Owens’ 1,078 career receptions rank sixth.
