Watch President Obama make NCAA picks; takes Indiana to win [Video]
President Obama, seemingly the nation’s No. 1 basketball fan, had his annual NCAA bracket session with ESPN college basketball expert Andy Katz.
Obama, who went 1-3 in picking champions during his first term in office, uttered a couple of phrases you probably heard during the presidential campaign last year.
“I think we can do better,†Obama tells Katz as they’re about to fill out the backet. “Four new years, let’s see what we can do.â€
The president, who made his selections Tuesday before leaving on a trip to the Middle East, predicted Indiana will beat Louisville in the championship game. He also chose Florida and Ohio State to make the Final Four. “I think this is Indiana’s year,†Obama said.
According to the president, though, UCLA isn’t going to do much this weekend. He has the sixth-seeded Bruins going out in a first-round upset to Minnesota on Friday.
“UCLA lost a key player,†Obama points out of starting forward Jordan Adams. “Minnesota’s been playing tough. I think Tubby Smith’s team is going to do pretty well.â€
