CM Punk leaves WWE

CM Punk, one of the most popular wrestlers in WWE, left the company Monday before a live airing of its flagship “Monday Night Raw†TV show.

Punk told Vince McMahon, the owner of the company, that he was going home, and he did.

Speculation immediately began that the move is part of an elaborate storyline concocted to drum up interest in the WWE just before the launch of its new network in February.

However, WWE has pulled Punk from all advertising from upcoming shows.

Punk hasn’t said why he left, but he had recently noted that his contract was up in July and that he wasn’t sure if he would want to renew it.

As to whether Punk will return, Dave Meltzer, founder of the Wrestling Observer newsletter, told The Times that “things can always be resolved. Historically in pro wrestling, time heals all wounds and at some point, more likely than not, it will be resolved.â€
