Is rocker Jon Bon Jovi angling to be an NFL owner?

According to a report by CBS’ Jason La Canfora, Bon Jovi is “consumed†with buying an NFL team and is positioned to make a play for the Buffalo Bills when they eventually are up for sale.

Bills owner Ralph Wilson, 95, has said the team will not remain in his family after his death.

The CBS report, citing unnamed source, said Rogers Communications in Toronto is the “prime suitor†for the franchise, but that Bon Jovi “has spent considerable time in the area getting to know politicians and power brokers and even added a [concert] date there late in a recent tour to allow for more time to allocate to the matter.â€

Bon Jovi, a former Arena Football League team owner, has a friendship with Tim Leiweke, president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports, who is interested in bringing an NFL team to Toronto. Leiweke is the former top executive at AEG and was the point man on an attempt to construct an NFL stadium at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles.
