Phil Jackson: I ‘probably won’t be able to physically coach again’

Phil Jackson may be coming to terms with the idea that he is done coaching in the NBA.

“I’m realistically thinking about the fact that I probably won’t be able to physically coach again,†Jackson said on “The Seth Davis Show.â€

The interview with the former Lakers coach is scheduled to run in two parts on Oct. 28 and Nov. 1 via the website CampusInsiders.com.

Jackson won five championships as head coach of the Lakers. He also won six in Chicago with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.

The Lakers and Jackson met to discuss a possible return in November 2012. While Jackson was mulling the idea, the Lakers instead hired Mike D’Antoni.

In June, Jackson also had expressed skepticism that he’d be able to coach again in the NBA.

“Sometimes I feel I can still get out there and do it but the reality is I’m kidding myself,†he said during a public interview at the Alex Theatre in Glendale.

In recent years, Jackson, 68, has had surgery to battle prostate cancer. He also had a knee replaced.

His interview with Davis also touches on his near return to the Lakers, Dwight Howard and Jordan.
