Brandt Snedeker, Ryan Lochte recovering from freak injuries
Two big-time athletes. Two freak injuries.
Maybe swimmer Ryan Lochte and golfer Brandt Snedeker should have stayed home this week.
According to the latest reports, Lochte has suffered a torn medial collateral ligament and a sprained anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee after an encounter with an overzealous fan in Florida on Sunday.
The teenage girl ran at the five-time gold medalist, who tried to catch her in his arms. They both tumbled to the ground and Lochte’s knee struck a curb.
“His medical team expects him to make a full and speedy recovery and Ryan thanks everyone for their well wishes,†his publicist said in a statement released to USA Today.
Snedeker was riding a Segway at a corporate event in China on Monday when he lost his balance. Hopping off, he landed awkwardly, bruising his left tibia and straining the ACL in his left knee.
No surgery will be required, the Associated Press said, but Snedeker was forced to withdraw from the upcoming Australian PGA Championship.
He is scheduled to play in Tiger Woods’ tournament at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks in early December.
