Robert Griffin III fined $10,000 for wearing wrong T-shirt brand

The going rate for a Robert Griffin III T-shirt?

Evidently, $10,000.

That’s how much the NFL fined the Washington Redskins star for wearing unauthorized apparel during pregame warm-ups before Monday night’s exhibition game against Pittsburgh at Fedex Field, according to the Washington Post.

The anonymous source cited by the newspaper didn’t actually specify which article of clothing got the second-year quarterback in trouble, but it’s pretty clear it was his T-shirt that read “Operation Patience.�

That’s a reference to the Redskins’ easing him back into action after the severe knee injury he suffered in a playoff loss to Seattle in January.

This isn’t the first such fine for Griffin, who is sponsored by Adidas. He was fined $10,000 last December for wearing the company’s apparel at a news conference. Nike is the league’s official apparel maker.
