Packages of frozen meals were strewn throughout the street, while a single shoe was left under the car.

The driver, a 69-year-old Glendale woman, remained at the scene for questioning. Police don’t believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.

As onlookers stopped to ask police questions about what happened and share their own stories of near-misses, Lightfoot reminded them to look both ways before crossing the street.

“Make eye contact with the driver and then cross,†she told them.

Detectives interviewed witnesses at the scene and are still investigating what caused the collision.

So far this year, three pedestrians have been killed in traffic collisions in Glendale.
