Letters: Drone views
Re “Coming clean on drones,†Opinion, May 6
Doyle McManus tells us that 77% of liberal Democrats approve of the use of drones to target and kill our enemies. Compare that to the significantly lower percentage of liberal Democrats who approve of the use of waterboarding.
Think about the inescapable conclusion: On the one hand, killing is overwhelmingly approved; on the other, making an enemy uncomfortable is not. Because waterboarding is mean, it goes against American values, but killing people with missiles is quite acceptable.
This clearly illustrates the wafer-thin reasoning that represents today’s liberal values.
