Letters: Funding L.A.’s parks
Re “Group seeks parks funding,†May 1
The city shouldstop charging the Recreation and Parks Department for water, electricity, trash disposal and other indirect expenses.
The LA84 Foundation has supported city parks with millions of dollars, but the private sector cannot be totally responsible for meeting the public needs. It’s elected officials who must make decisions for the public good.
Give back to the Parks Department the money taken away as charge-backs. The $43 million will make it possible for L.A. residents to enjoy the parks that public money is raised to support.
