Elizabeth Smart is one bride who knows exactly what she wants. The Brigham Young University student just got engaged last month, and in a month’s time managed to pull off a dream wedding in Hawaii. She was married there over the weekend, with close family and friends in attendance.

Smart, 24, spoke exclusively to People magazine about the whirlwind wedding preparations. “It’s everything you can imagine with planning a wedding. Only, it’s compressed into a few days,†Smart told People, which is directing readers to its print edition for further details, including a glimpse of the wedding gown.

Smart was 14 when she was kidnapped from her Salt Lake City home in the middle of the night by a self-proclaimed prophet and street preacher. She was raped repeatedly during nine months of captivity.

The nation was riveted first by the news of her rescue -- then by her poise as the teenager testified against the captors who had threatened to kill her and her family if she did not submit to their demands.

Smart’s testimony led to lengthy prison terms for the man who abducted her, Brian David Mitchell, and the companion who helped cover it up, Wanda Barzee.

Smart, a senior at BYU, has since become an outspoken advocate for kidnapping victims.

Smart and her new husband, Matthew Gilmour, 22, reportedly met about a year ago. Their engagement became public exactly one month ago.

The pair were said to be planning a summer wedding and pleaded for privacy. It’s unclear why they moved up the date, but the media had been sniffing around for details. It’s also unclear whether they sold access to their wedding to People magazine.

In any case, happily ever after, Elizabeth.
