There’ll be some sun this Memorial Day weekend, but it won’t be perfect beach weather, forecasters say. And there’s even a chance of rain at the tail end of the three-day break.

The National Weather Service said temperatures will reach the 70s in most areas Saturday and Sunday, with cloudy mornings giving way to partly sunny afternoons.

On Memorial Day, clouds are more with a 20% chance of showers in the evening.

Officials also are warning of strong rip currents and possible flooding along the coast in Orange County and San Diego.

Law enforcement officials, meanwhile, said they will be on high alert over the holiday weekend, looking for drunk drivers. During last year’s Memorial Day weekend, 25 people were killed in collisions in California and more than 1,300 were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the CHP.

“The CHP’s primary mission is to prevent the loss of life,†CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow said in a statement. “We want you to enjoy and celebrate, but we ask you to do it responsibly.â€

At Los Angeles International Airport, officials are expecting an estimated 706,600 travelers to pass through the airport this three-day weekend – about 31,000 more travelers than last year.

Friday and Monday were expected to be the busiest travel days, officials said. Travelers were advised to expect busy passenger terminals and mostly full flights.
