Even from behind bars, Kyle Edwards was still calling the shots.

The now-convicted pimp contacted his girlfriend, Latysha Burleson, after his arrest in June and gave her a task: Get ahold of the 16-year-old girl he was accused of trafficking around the Southland and convince her not to testify against him.

Burleson did what Edwards said and eventually pleaded guilty to dissuading a witness, according to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department.

She still awaits her fate at sentencing, but her boyfriend knows what’s ahead: 17 years in state prison and his name on the sex offenders registry.

Edwards pleaded guilty Tuesday to pimping and pandering of a minor, unlawful sex with a minor and dissuading a witness -- a charge the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office tacked on after Burleson was arrested on suspicion of trying to sway the witness.

A third defendant, Raymond Edwards, is serving a year-long stint in the county jail for his role in the trafficking case, which was a joint investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI.
