‘Lone wolf’ with pipe bombs in West L.A. sentenced to eight years
A West L.A. man who police said had more than a dozen pipe bombs in his home was sentenced to eight years in prison Tuesday.
Robert Colt Wilson, 29, pleaded no contest in a Los Angeles County courtroom Tuesday to felony charges of possessing a destructive device, ingredients to make a destructive device and having a controlled substance with a firearm.
Wilson was arrested May 14 after police pulled him over for a traffic violation in Marina del Rey. Authorities found drugs, a loaded gun and one pipe bomb in his car.
Police then obtained a warrant to search his home in the 3800 block of Overland Avenue in Palms, where they found 17 more pipe bombs. After Wilson’s arrest, police described him as a “lone wolf†who was intrigued with explosives, but said he had no connection with terrorist acts or groups.
In exchange for Wilson’s plea, four felony counts were dismissed, prosecutors said.
