A 20-year-old Vista man who was shot by a sheriff’s deputy during a fight has been arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, assaulting an officer and grabbing an officer’s weapon, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday.

Anthony Fernando Garcia and three other people were drunk and smoking marijuana in the laundry room of an apartment building when deputies confronted them Wednesday night, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Garcia “violently fought†with one deputy, grabbing her Taser and firing it, the Sheriff’s Department said. The Taser probes did not strike anyone, but the deputy, who “feared for her life,†fired her gun at Garcia, the department said.
