The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office released the identity Monday of a 21-year-old man who was killed by gunfire at the entrance of the Standard hotel early Sunday.

Thomas Johnson was pronounced dead at a local hospital, and his autopsy is still pending, according to coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter. It was unclear where he had lived.

Police have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting, which erupted shortly before 2:30 a.m. at the 12-story hotel at Flower and 6th streets, said Los Angeles Police Officer Ricardo Hernandez.

Four people, including Johnson, were struck by gunfire near the hotel’s entrance and taken to hospitals, police said. The gunman fled before police arrived.

Witnesses said an apparent argument about people being kept out of a party sparked the incident.
