Two high school students are expected to appear in a Riverside County juvenile court Thursday on charges that they raped a fellow student in a school bathroom.

The suspects, 15 and 16 years old, attacked a female classmate Sept. 25 at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Eastvale, according to law enforcement authorities. The assault took place after classes ended.

School authorities learned of the alleged attack after an anonymous phone call, CBS Los Angeles reported.

The 16-year-old suspect plays on the school’s football team and was arrested on campus Monday, CBS reported. The other teen was taken into custody off campus.

“On behalf of the school community, I want to thank the anonymous caller who brought this matter to our attention and spurred this investigation,†school communications manager Evita Gonzalez told CBS. “The safety and well-being of our students is of paramount importance to everyone in our district.â€

Each youth has been charged with statutory rape, sodomy by force in concert, sexual battery and oral copulation by force, said John Hall, spokesman for the Riverside County district attorney’s office.

They are scheduled to appear for a detention hearing in Juvenile Court on Thursday. Such hearings are typically open, Hall said, but the victim has requested that the proceedings be confidential.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said the assault was an “isolated incident and the involved victim and suspects have been identified.â€
