The talent agency for an adult film star who appears to have tested positive for the HIV infection this week -- prompting an industry moratorium on shooting -- identified her Thursday as a 28-year-old actress who goes by the name Cameron Bay.

Free Speech Coalition, a porn industry trade association, issued the moratorium Wednesday, pending the results of further tests.

Bay was quoted in an industry publication, AVN Media Network, as confirming that the test was hers, although final results are still pending. Her talent agency also confirmed the information to The Times but declined to put a reporter in contact with Bay directly.

Mark Schechter, owner of Adult Talent Managers LA, which represents the actress, said she went in for her regular screening for sexually transmitted diseases on Monday and the results came back inconclusive. She went in for a second test Tuesday with a new blood sample. Preliminary results came back Wednesday as potentially positive for HIV.

Schechter said additional testing is taking place to confirm the results.

“Any time any performer tests [positive] to any STD,†he said, “there are always additional tests to rule out any false positives or contamination.†He said the results of followup tests were expected to come in by Monday or Tuesday.

In her interview with AVN Media Network (warning: the link contain graphic material), the actress said, “If it is [positive] I will of course do everything I can to spread awareness and take care of myself and do the things that are necessary or in my power to do. But it is unconfirmed.â€

Schechter said Bay was last tested on July 27 and the result was negative. He said she had done shoots since then.

The Free Speech Coalition said in a statement Wednesday that it was working with a doctor affiliated with the Adult Production Health & Safety Services to contact and treat any other performers who might have been exposed.

The coalition said there was “no indication†that the infection had been contracted during a shoot, but Schechter said that is “completely unknown at this time.â€
