Driver dies after striking wood chipper on 10 Freeway
A man was killed after crashing his vehicle into a wood chipper Tuesday night on the 10 Freeway in West L.A., authorities said.
The fatal crash occurred about 10:30 p.m. on the eastbound 10 Freeway at Robertson Boulevard when the wood chipper somehow became detached, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The trailer was in the roadway when “the other party hit it,†said CHP Officer Jennifer Cassidy, who added that the information was only preliminary.
The driver who lost the trailer in the roadway pulled over to the right shoulder and was uninjured, Cassidy added.
No arrests had been made in the incident, Cassidy said. The identity of the driver who died was not immediately available.
