The Los Angeles County coroner will conduct an autopsy Tuesday of a man found dead at a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power plant in Long Beach, a coroner’s official said.

The body of Vincent Martinez, 60, of Downey was found in the plant’s Haynes Generating Station at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday after his family reported him missing the previous night, said LADWP spokesman Joe Ramallo.

Martinez was a landscaper with LADWP who would have celebrated his 29th anniversary with the department in June, Ramallo said. He was on duty Friday afternoon before he was reported missing.

“This is a tragic loss and tragedy for our employee’s family and our entire LADWP family,†said Aram Benyamin, a senior assistant general manager. “Our hearts go out to the family, friends and coworkers of our employee.â€

A cause of death has yet to be determined. Ramallo said Martinez’s death did not appear to be related to construction going on at the plant.
