‘Jett Jackson’ actor Lee Thompson Young dead in apparent suicide

Actor Lee Thompson Young was found dead at his home Monday morning in North Hollywood, Los Angeles police said.

A law enforcement source told The Times that the death was being investigated as a possible suicide.

Sheree Cohen, who served as Young’s talent agent for many years, confirmed the 29-year-old star’s death.

“It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning,†said Young’s manager, Jonathan Baruch, in a statement issued to the website Deadline. “Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed. We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends at this very difficult time.â€

Authorities responded to the home in the 5400 block of Tujunga Avenue shortly after 8 a.m. and discovered the body of the 29-year-old star of TNT’s “Rizzoli & Isles,†LAPD spokeswoman Rosie Herrera said.

The coroner’s office is conducting the investigation of the death, Herrera said.

In cases of obvious foul play, the LAPD would be the lead agency in the case.

Young is best known for the title role in the Disney Channel series “The Famous Jett Jackson.†He also appeared in the ABC drama “Flash Forward†and the movie “Friday Night Lights.â€
