Family of Lee Thompson Young (‘Jett Jackson’) asks for privacy

The family of Lee Thompson Young is asking for privacy after the actor was found dead in his North Hollywood home Monday morning.

Authorities responded to the home in the 5400 block of Tujunga Avenue shortly after 8 a.m. and discovered the body of the 29-year-old actor, LAPD spokeswoman Rosie Herrera said.

The Los Angeles County coroner is investigating the death. A law enforcement source told The Times that the death was being investigated as a possible suicide.

“It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning,†Young’s manager, Jonathan Baruch, said in a statement.

“Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed,†he continued. “We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends at this very difficult time.â€

In cases of obvious foul play, the LAPD would be the lead agency in the case.

Young is best known for the title role in the Disney Channel series “The Famous Jett Jackson.†He has had a regular role on TNT’s “Rizzoli & Isles†and also appeared in the ABC drama “Flash Forward†and the movie “Friday Night Lights.â€
