Authorities were searching Wednesday night for a missing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, but it was not immediately clear whether any foul play was involved.

Officials said late Wednesday that a search was underway for the officer and that it was partly concentrated around the area of Silver Lake Boulevard and the 101 Freeway.

“A search is underway … for an officer with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s and Removal Operations division who may be missing,†Virginia Kice, spokesperson for ICE, said in a statement.

“ICE is working closely with the Los Angeles Police Department in the ongoing investigation,†Kice said.

The agent has been missing since early Wednesday and LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division is involved in the search. Authorities are concerned because the agent, who missed work, was described as reliable.

Kice finished her statement by saying that “out of consideration for the officer’s safety, neither ICE nor the LAPD are releasing further details.â€

The statement went on to say that the LAPD “will continue to treat this as a ‘missing persons’ case until the officer is actually contacted, but at this time, it appears no foul play was involved.â€]
