Girl, 10, critically injured after apparent fall at Point Fermin
A 10-year-old girl was hospitalized with head injuries Saturday after she apparently fell to the bottom of a cliff at Point Fermin on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, authorities said.
“We don’t know how far she fell or why she fell,†Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
The girl was apparently on a visit to Point Fermin with family members, he said. She was was taken by helicopter to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where she was in critical condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The Point Fermin cliffs have a history of fatal falls, including that of USC football player Mario Danelo in 2007.
