Police seek man seen on video setting fires at elementary school
Manhattan Beach police searched Friday for a man caught on surveillance tape lighting half a dozen fires on the campus of an elementary school.
The fires were set between 12:24 a.m. and 1:15 a.m. Nov. 17. Police said one of the blazes burned a bulletin board outside a classroom at Robinson Elementary School.
“Although most of the fires set burned for a short amount of time, the subject can be seen attempting to start a large fire on the school grounds,†Manhattan Police Department officials said this week in a statement.
“In the video, the subject is seen sitting on a school bench, watching the fire burn,†they continued. “Once the fire burned out, the subject exited the school campus.â€
In the section of video provided by the police department, the man appears to be walking away while trying to shield his face from the camera.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call (310) 802-5124.
