An argument between a father and his 18-year-old son escalated into gun violence and ended in a murder charge this week, authorities said.

Anderson Edward Lyiscott was charged Tuesday with one count of murder in the fatal shooting of his son Giovanni Lyiscott. Anderson Lyiscott had been arguing with his son in their Carson home Saturday when the teenager locked himself in his room, Deputy Dist. Atty. R.J. Dreiling said in a statement.

Details about the argument were not released.

The boy’s father reportedly armed himself with a gun, shot at the door handle to his son’s room and entered, and the two engaged in a struggle, the prosecutor said.
