Facebook building in Menlo Park cleared after bomb threat
A bomb threat forced the evacuation Tuesday afternoon of a building on Facebook’s campus in Menlo Park, Calif., authorities said.
Bomb detection dogs searched the building at 200 Jefferson Drive and found no suspicious packages or devices, the Menlo Park Police Department said.
The incident began about 4:30 p.m. when Menlo Park dispatchers fielded a call from the New York Police Department saying that it had received an anonymous tip of a bomb threat at Facebook’s headquarters.
Facebook management requested the evacuation as a precaution, authorities said. Menlo Park officers surrounded the building and helped direct traffic out of the area.
“The building is all clear and secure,†the Police Department said in an alert shortly before 8 p.m.
It’s unclear how many people were in the building.
