Firefighters battle brush fire in Palmdale

Firefighters were battling a small brush fire in Palmdale on Monday evening that initially appeared to be threatening structures.
The blaze had burned about three acres near 25th Street West and Elizabeth Lake Road, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
Fire commanders on the ground had called a second alarm after the blaze broke out about 6:15 p.m. to protect structures that appeared to be threatened. But the additional units were staging in the area because the structures did not appear to be immediately threatened, the Fire Department said.
Fire crews on the ground were being aided by water-dropping helicopters.
No other details were immediately available.
