Voters in the state are increasingly likely to reject party labels and declare no party preference when registering to vote.

Voters in the state are increasingly likely to reject party labels and declare no party preference when registering to vote. “No party preference†voters are 23% of those registered. Republicans are 28% and Democrats 43%. Two decades ago, unaffiliated voters were 10% of California registered voters.

Leads the state at 31 percent.
