Momofuku restaurant and Milk Bar to open first West Coast locations in Las Vegas

Ask someone heading to New York where they plan to eat, and chances are, one of the Momofuku restaurants is on the agenda, along with a stop at Milk Bar for some crack pie.

These are the restaurants by David Chang, the James Beard Award-winning chef and founder of Momofuku Noodle Bar, Ssam Bar, Ko (which has two Michelin stars), Ma Peche, Seiobo, Daisho, Shoto, Fuku, Fuku+, CCDC and Nishi. Milk Bar is the dessert wonderland from Christina Tosi, who developed the desserts for Momofuku, and is a cookbook author and two-time James Beard Award winner.

Most of the Momofuku restaurants are located on the East Coast, as well as in Canada and Australia. So fans of the New York City-based empire will be happy to learn that the West Coast is about to get its first Momofuku.

Chang and Tosi plan to bring a Momofuku restaurant and Milk Bar to the Cosmopolitan hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. The projects will be located on level two of the eastside tower of the hotel.

“I believe very strongly that Las Vegas is a premiere dining destination in America,†said Chang in an email to The Times. “You have locals, a ton who work in the industry, as well as a revolving door of guests that represent all facets of life: International clientele to corporate businessmen to bachelorette and bachelor parties, and everything in between. Everyone is looking to have a good time, and we only hope to add to that positive vibe.â€

And as far as the menus go? One could only hope to see Tosi’s compost cookies, cereal milk ice cream and crack pie, and some form of Chang’s noodles and fried chicken.

“We’ve got to make a restaurant that is accessible to a wide variety of people, but at the same time different, and innovative,†Chang said. “At the end of the day, the only thing we are going to try to develop is delicious food and great service.â€

Momofuku and Milk Bar will join a growing list of new restaurants at the hotel that also includes an outlet of Egg Slut, the popular Grand Central Market stall.

There is no opening date set for Momofuku or Milk Bar.
