First look: Ivory, the new restaurant at Mondrian L.A., opening New Year’s Eve
Ivory, a new restaurant at Mondrian Los Angeles, has replaced Herringbone at the hotel. The restaurant is scheduled to open Dec. 31, and it’s the work of some serious L.A. nightlife heavyweights.
John Terzian of The h.wood Group (SHOREbar, the Nice Guy); the Hakkasan Group hospitality company (which bought The h.wood Group last year); L.A.-based designer Brigette Romanek; designer John Sofio, president and founder of Built Inc. (the company that designed the Nice Guy and Bootsy Bellows) and Brian Malarkey, who opened Herringbone, are all involved in the new Ivory.
The food will be seasonal and the vibe inspired by Hollywood’s golden age.
Malarkey, known for his colorful bowties and commentary on ABC’s “The Taste†cooking competition show, designed the menu to include veal and pork meatballs with braised kale; hamachi crudo; pork belly with maple mustard with deviled egg yolk and apple slaw; white seabass; Sonoma brick oven duck; and a selection of wood-fried flatbreads.
In the bar, house-infused, signature cocktails including the Dueling Pistolas, made with tequila, mezcal, house-made black mission fig jam, cove agave, lime and bitters: and the Achilles Peel with blackberry-and blueberry-infused vodka, St. Germaine, fresh berries and lemon. There’s also a large wine and beer list.
Guests will enter the 7,500-square-foot space through the patio, surrounded by a panoramic view of the city and plenty of palm trees. Inside, traditional dining tables along with lounge seating and a grand piano.
Ivory will be open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as weekend brunch.
