Detroit’s Guns + Butter pops up at the Spare Room
Detroit-based Guns + Butter will pop up at the Spare Room in the Roosevelt Hotel for five nights, Friday to Nov. 26.
Guns + Butter recently was featured in the final episode of “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.†Says Bourdain of Guns + Butter chef Craig Lieckfelt: “This guy could be running a 300-seat retaurant in Vegas, but here he is, in Detroit. That’s a heroic thing.â€
Lieckfelt graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and worked with Jean-Georges Vongerichten at Jean Georges in Manhattan, working his way up to sous chef before returning to his Michigan roots and launching Guns + Butter, the name a reference to an economic production model.
The dinner series at the Spare Room in Hollywood will feature six courses, including dishes such as king crab with langoustine and Meyer lemon and lamb with eggplant and pistachio, (the menu is subject to change after a visit to the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market) with an optional wine/cocktail pairing for $80 per person.
There are two seatings for 16 people, starting at 7 and 9 p.m. Reservations are available online.
