Airplane bartending: The carry-on old fashioned cocktail kit
The next time you’re cruising at 30,000 feet in the air, wouldn’t it be nice to sit down to a proper old fashioned? It could make that holiday flight across country just a tad more bearable.
A company producing a product called the Carry On Cocktail Kit has your airplane cocktail needs in mind. It has created a compact silver case that contains everything you need to make a proper old fashioned, minus the bourbon. You can just order a small bottle from the flight attendant.
In the kit is a small vial of aromatic bitters, which the company says were crafted in small batches by bitters geniuses in Brooklyn; two packets of raw Demerara cane sugar; a mini, stainless steel hybrid bar spoon and cocktail muddler; and a linen coaster to add a bit of class. There’s also a recipe card, in case you don’t know what you’re doing.
If you’re worried about getting the kit through security, the company assures customers on its website: “It will make it through security just fine.â€
The kits are available on Carryoncocktailkit.com for $24. Each kit comes with enough supplies to make two old fashioneds -- one for you and one for your new cute friend across the aisle.
