Your guide to an entire week devoted to off-the-wall burgers and sandwiches
If you believe cheeseburgers are a food group, the Oinkster’s sixth annual Burger Week is for you.
For the past five years, chef Andre Guerrero has devoted an entire week to wacky burgers at the Oinkster in Eagle Rock. It’s seven days of fully loaded burgers and sandwiches topped with everything from cranberry gastrique to blue cheese spread.
Starting Monday, this year’s burger week is an homage to the city of Los Angeles. Here’s what you can look forward to next week:
The Oinki-Dog
Available: Monday, June 6
What it is: 1/4-pound beef hot dog with house-smoked pastrami, Oinkster chili and shredded jack and cheddar cheese wrapped in a grilled burrito tortilla.
Drink of the day: Mountain Dew DewShine in a bottle.
Apple Pantastic
Available: Tuesday, June 7
What it is: 6-ounce Nebraska Angus beef patty topped with hickory-smoked sauce, lettuce, pickles and mayo on a seedless bun.
Drink of the day: Pink lemonade
Mr. Bahndre
Available: Wednesday, June 8
What it is: House-roasted pork loin, pate, sliced ham, house-pickled daikon, carrots, cilantro, sliced jalapeno and mayo on a baguette roll.
Drink of the day: Limeade
Grill ‘Em All’s Blue Cheer
Available: Thursday, June 9
What it is: 6-ounce Nebraska Angus beef patty with cranberry gastrique, blue cheese spread and Munchos chips on a brioche bun.
Drink of the day: Pabst Old Tankard ale
McRibster
Available: Friday, June 10
What it is: Baby back ribs with barbecue sauce, chopped onions, pickles and mayo on a roll.
Drink of the day: Sweet tea
Torta Rey
Available: Saturday, June 11
What it is: Carne asada, guajillo-ancho-chipotle salsa, guacamole, queso fresco, crema, pinto beans, cilantro, shredded lettuce and sliced tomato on a telera.
Drink of the day: Tamarind agua fresca
Filipster
Available: Sunday, June 12
What it is: Nebraska Angus top sirloin roast dipped in house jus with cheese on a roll.
Drink of the day: Arnold Palmer
