Anthony Bourdain, you can pretty much say whatever you like ... or at least you think you can. But when you call a Frito pie a “colostomy pie,†then insist you like it, people get a little confused.

The former Food Network, Travel Channel and current CNN host had some strong words to say about a recent on-camera bite. On an episode of Bourdain’s show “Parts Unknown,†he visited the Five & Dime General Store in New Mexico for a taste of its “world famous†Frito pie.

“Canned Hormel chili and day-glow orange cheeselike substance dropped ... right into a bag of Fritos,†Bourdain told viewers. “If you closed your eyes and I put this in your hand, you would be very worried. In just six minutes, I’ve achieved a depth of self loathing that it usually takes a night of drinking to achieve.â€

After hearing that, you’d expect he didn’t like the Frito pie. But, alas, that’s just how Bourdain describes something he deems “quite delicious.†However, he then told the entire state of New Mexico that it should let Texas “have this one.â€

And Five & Dime General Store resents Bourdain claiming their chili is canned Hormel. A spokeswoman told the Associated Press that the chili is homemade, using New Mexican chiles.

This little episode kind of reminds me of when someone says, “Hey, guys, try this. It’s so disgusting.†Usually can’t wait for a bite after someone says that.
