Watch a ‘Cosmos’ Q&A with Neil deGrasse Tyson and Seth MacFarlane

“Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey,†the new, 13-episode documentary series, premieres Sunday at 9 p.m. on Fox, National Geographic and eight other affiliated cable networks -- not to mention 220 channels in 181 countries around the globe.

The project is a reboot of the landmark 1980 PBS series, “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage,†created and hosted by astronomer Carl Sagan and aims to introduce the wonders of science to a new generation. (For those of you unfamiliar with the original, this weekend NatGeo will air a marathon of all 13 episodes. Set your DVRs now.)

Tuesday night in Los Angeles, host Neil deGrasse Tyson, executive producer Seth MacFarlane and writer Ann Druyan, among others, gathered for a Q&A session with fans from around the world.

“I want this to be interesting to people who have no preexisting interest in science and are going to watch just for the spectacle,†MacFarlane said when asked about what motivated him to produce the series.
