‘Walking Dead’ fans share thoughts on the Governor

The final episode of “The Walking Dead†of 2013 saw a lot of characters’ blood shed, including kindly old Hershel, the heart and soul of the group, and Meghan, a sweet little girl introduced just two episodes ago. While many fans expressed outrage and sadness over the passing of those other characters, there was one death that few mourned: the Governor.

As played by David Morrissey, the villainous Governor was occasionally sympathetic but largely one of the most hiss-able bad guys “The Walking Dead†has offered up. When he was dispatched by Michonne and his girlfriend, Lily, there was no one to cry. Well, almost no one. Amazingly, the Governor still has his fans.

For many fans, the death was cathartic, like “Peachy Black†who wrote, “Yes!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!! You finally got what you deserve, Governor!!!!â€

Not everyone was trusting of the show’s storytelling, with Mela writing, “Poor Herschel and Governor!!!! Governor is a tough cookie..how do we know he is actually dead!! He’s tricky!!! Lol.â€

Casey Pinner had the entrepreneurial idea, “Wouldnt it be awesome if the governor action figure was of him being stabbed by Michonne’s sword though?!!

While Lauren Crow seemed to strike the right balance between appreciation for the actor’s skill with the loathsomeness of the character, by writing, “Awh happy and sad that the governor died, no more exciting scenes from him!â€

But no matter what awful things the guy did on onscreen, he still had his die-hard fans, such as George Davis, who wrote, “I actually liked the Governor in #TheWalkingDead. He may have shot a young girl...But nonetheless, a likable character!â€
