‘Sleepy Hollow’ ratings: Does Fox have a headless hit?

“Sleepy Hollow� galloped away with ratings that might have scared rivals half to death Monday.

Fox’s horror fantasy -- an adaptation of Washington Irving’s story about Ichabod Crane and the infamous headless horseman -- premiered with 10 million total viewers, according to Nielsen.

That was No. 2 during the 9 p.m. hour behind the season premiere of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars� (16.8 million). But “Sleepy Hollow� tied the dance contest in the key demographic of adults aged 18 to 49 (3.4 rating/9 share), proving that the franchise has allure for young people.

Elsewhere on Monday, CBS wrapped up its hit summer drama “Under the Dome� with a strong performance of 11.8 million at 10 p.m.
