NBC orders ‘Ironside’ remake, ‘Chicago PD’ and ‘Undateable’

NBC continued to flesh out its 2013-14 schedule on Friday, ordering a remake of the 1960s and ‘70s detective drama “Ironside,†plus a cop-show spin-off of “Chicago Fire.â€

The network also added “Undateable,†a young-adult sitcom starring Chris D’Elia as a romantic player who tries to show a group of nerds the ins and outs of the dating world. The comedy will be produced by Bill Lawrence, the writer behind “Scrubs†and “Cougar Town.â€

“Ironside†stars Blair Underwood as a New York detective who was wounded in a shooting and is now confined to a wheelchair, but still tackles tough cases with his team of experts. In the original series, which ran on NBC from 1967 to 1975, the role was played by Raymond Burr.

“Chicago PD†is about the various police units that fight crime in the Second City. The executive producer is Dick Wolf, the “Law & Order†creator who is also behind “Chicago Fire.â€

Exactly where NBC will put these new shows is still unknown. The network will officially announce the fall lineup on Monday.
