Jillian Barberie joins KABC TalkRadio after TV mishaps and flops

Jillian Barberie, whose stints at KTTV Fox 11 and KTLA Channel 5 were clouded by clashes with colleagues, brash behavior and low ratings, has finally gotten a new gig — on radio.

Barberie will host a new afternoon show on TalkRadio 790 KABC AM where she will be joined by another KABC personality, John Phillips. “Mid-Day LA with Jillian Barberie and John Phillips†will debut Monday and air weekdays from noon to 3 p.m as part of the local station’s recently launched lineup.

After an 18-year run on KTTV’s “Good Day L.A.†where she worked as a weathercaster, lifestyle reporter and co-anchor, Barberie left the station in 2012 after being yanked off the anchor desk.

During her time on the station, Barberie clashed with co-anchor Dorothy Lucey, making unflattering comments about her on Howard Stern’s radio show and calling her “very Christian and Bible-thumpy.†Lucey, who also was let go from the station in 2012, said she was frequently distraught by Barberie’s “mean.â€

Barberie tearfully apologized to Lucey on-air when Lucey was departing.

In other appearences with Stern, Barberie would boast about her outrageous sexual escapades, talking about how many celebrities she had “done†and bragging about engaging in sex games with her then husband using a gun.

Barberie last year joined KTLA and was host of the short-lived “Hollywood Mix†where she interviewed stars and gave away items from her wardrobe. It was pulled after a few months of poor ratings and never returned.

KTLA did not respond to requests for comment.

Barberie, a mother of two children, got divorced from husband Grant Reynolds after leaving KTTV. In recent weeks, she has been a contributor on HLN’s “Dr. Drew On Call.â€
